Introducing the State College Bicycle Network Map
CentreBike is working on an interactive map bringing together everything a cyclist in the State College area needs to plan a ride — all in one place.
What's on the map
- Bike racks — Borough and Penn State racks, plus racks in surrounding townships (College, Patton, Harris, and Ferguson) that we've personally surveyed and mapped by hand.
- Repair stations — Public bike repair stands around town, with location details and a photo where available.
- The route network — Bike lanes, bike routes, shared-use paths, single track, state bike routes, and state game lands trails, color-coded so you can tell at a glance what kind of riding each one offers.
- Winter maintenance routes — See which paths get cleared in the winter, so you know what's rideable year-round.
- Street View layer — Click any point along select routes to drop into Google Street View and see what the path or trail actually looks like before you go.
- Bike crash data (1997–2025) — A safety layer showing where crashes have historically occurred, with a link to each official report. Bicycle crashes sourced from the PennDOT Crash Data database.
- Bike travel-time radius — Drag a pin anywhere on the map and see how far you can get by bike in 5 to 60 minutes, based on real road and trail routing — not just straight-line distance.
This is a beta. Rack data is being updated and added by hand as we survey each area, so coverage will continue to expand over the coming months.
